Messages loses connectivity and requires restart

Messages keeps losing connectivity and has to be restarted. My iPhone is on the same desk. A message (from "blue) Apple user) comes into the iPhone but (very) often and not transferred to the iMac (Tahoe) for several minutes and sometimes not at all. I have to quit messages, start it up again, and then send a message to the person whose text did not come through. That restores connectivity.

Sign out of Apple ID on Mac → restart → sign back in

This is the nuclear option but fixes the underlying authentication token that often causes desyncs:

System Settings → Apple ID → Sign Out

Restart, then sign back in.

⚠️ This does NOT delete files, but you may need to re-enable iCloud apps afterward.
