iPhone 8 Reminders not chiming

i’m using an iPhone 8. When I set a reminder, my phone does not chime and let me know about it when it is time. While reminders is listed in my settings, it is not listed under notifications, although It is listed under sounds and haptics where I have selected a sound. But still nothing happens when it is supposed to notify me.

If your device’s audio is currently routed to a Bluetooth accessory—like earbuds, speakers, or a car system—the Reminders app may not play an audible alert on the phone itself. The chime will try to play through the connected Bluetooth device instead, which can make it seem like the reminder didn’t go off. Disconnecting Bluetooth audio or switching the output back to the phone usually fixes it.

Your iPhone should be playing Reminder alerts on iOS 16 — so if Reminders is missing from Notifications, that tells us something important:

👉 On older iPhones (like iPhone 8) running iOS 16, Reminders can disappear from Notifications when it loses permission due to a bug, corrupted settings, or a Screen Time restriction.

This is a known issue on iOS 15 and 16 specifically with Reminders.
