Emergency Bypass not working IOS 26

Hi everyone,

After updating my iPhone 15 Pro Max to iOS 26, my emergency contacts no longer ring at full volume when my phone is on Silent Mode. They do ring, but the sound is extremely quiet, even though:

• Emergency Bypass is turned on

• Ringer & Alerts volume is set to maximum

• “Change with Buttons” is off

• Attention Aware Features are off

• Reduce Loud Sounds is off

• No Focus mode is active

Before the update, calls from emergency contacts would ring at maximum volume even when the phone was on silent. Now they’re barely audible.

Is this a bug with iOS 26, or did Apple move/remove the setting?

How can I make emergency calls ring loudly again while the phone is on Silent?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

It’s not always an update that’s the problem, no. But this time, it is, so if you don’t use the Emergency Bypass feature and haven’t tested the issue yourself, kindly refrain from accusing someone of being irresponsible for posting about an actual bug.

I’ve experienced this exact issue since updating to iOS 26 and no amount of setting changes or tweaks have fixed it.

Regardless, if the update itself had turned off a related setting to this emergency/accessibility feature then that itself would be a major bug/flaw of the update, as changing a user’s personal settings especially regarding accessibility features should be seen as a bug, and some of us use emergency bypass due to having family or dependents that need open lines of communication in case of health concerns. This is a real and serious issue so please don’t downplay it just because it’s not a commonly used feature and you haven’t been inconvenienced by it.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
