iPhone to iPad data transfer via cable

I have connected my iphone 8+ to my new ipad A16 with a lightning to USB C cable attempting to transfer photos. I get no acknowledgement form either machine. I do not want to use iCloud.

Sorry, that is not possible. Direct transfer over USB cable is not supported.

You can use Airdrop.

In any case, iOS devices re not designed to push photos to another device.

You can import (Pull) into a computer but you cannot export(push) from ios to another device, even a computer.
