Seeking advice on cleaning MacBook storage for software

I am trying to clean up my husbands Macbook so we can get enough space to update his software. Has anyone had any experience with Mac Keeper? Or is there another service you might recommend. Not sure we are technologically savvy enough to do it ourselves. Thanks!

Plenty. They regretted it.

It and products like it are all scams. Junk. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk. There are many such examples, and they're not limited to Macs. The legacy PC market is an equally target-rich environment for scam artists.

If you need to create space for software updates please read Optimize storage space on your Mac - Apple Support. Once you identify, copy (if necessary) and subsequently delete items you no longer need, give your MacBook about a day to reconcile and finally release the storage they once occupied.
