How to disable gray display and fix auto-brightness issues on iPhone 15 Pro after iOS 26 update?

Hey everyone,

I noticed that ever since I updated IOS26 my Display on my iPhone 15 Pro is becoming gray, when I watch flashy videos or movies, for example a live DJ Set with Strobe lights, Lasershows etc.

I dont like this feature and would assume theres a setting to turn it off?

Also Ive had issues with the auto-brightness in general. The display sometimes is really dark and when I go into the taskbar and give the brightness a little up and down it „realises“ its way too dark for this setting and adjusts. So when I have the bar at 60% and give it a little shake and go back to the same position, its brighter.

Anyone shares this problem?

Thanks

Good evening,

I haven't encountered your problem with iOS 26, but I can advise you and explain how to remove the automatic brightness so you can check if that's where the problem lies.

Follow these steps:

Settings -> Accessibility -> Display & Text Size

Scroll down the window and you'll find Auto-Brightness. Try turning it off and see if the problem persists.

To try to resolve video-related issues, follow these steps:

Settings -> Accessibility -> Motion

In this window, you will find “Dim flashing lights.” Try turning it off and see if the problem persists.
