upon login, iphone asks to verify that i want to create a null account using my apple id. i requested no such account. why would i need a null account? what is a null account?

Go to: Settings → Apple ID → Password & Security → Apps Using Apple ID
Look for any app listed as:
➡️ Remove / Stop using Apple ID for that entry.
This alone fixes it in most cases.
