iPhone 15 camera zoom transition

Hi All,

I wanted to check if anyone in this community has noticed an issue while zooming in on the camera.

I’m using an iPhone 15 with iOS 26.1 (latest version). When I zoom in and go below 1x, the transition between cameras seems like a glitch—it’s very evident that the camera is switching from the primary lens, and the transition is not smooth.

The issue is noticeable when moving from 0.9x to 1x and vice versa.

Is this expected behavior? Does everyone see the same on their devices? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Ajith Thomas

Hi,

I see it in all devices that utilize multiple cameras/lenses because of an optical phenomenon called parallax error. The optical center of each lens is different and results in a shift in perspective when switching cameras. It would take heavy AI fusion to compensate for the error, resulting in possible hallucinations in the scene.

How close are you to the subject? There is a small bump in the zoom when I’m focused on objects within a few feet. It’s not as noticeable when I focus on distant objects. It’s the iPhone switching camera/lenses.

All my iPhones have exhibited this behavior to one degree or another. Some third party apps are a little smoother than others, but all exhibit a bump to one degree or another.
