Thanks! that's something to keep in mind. though, I'm wondering what may be causing the rapid draining of battery.. Before I slept, I charged it until 80% but I woke up to it 6 hours later to 10%
Widgets will show up as Battery usage on the Lock Screen. You may want to review the number of widgets you have or pay particular attention to any that require frequent updates and operate in the background. If you have identified a third party widget that you have installed causing the battery drain, let us know what that is.

It may be best to make a new post where you can provide:
Each case is unique and it gets difficult to provide the assistance to the OP when their post starts going in many different directions.
You do have the power adapter connected to the phone at night, and you are leaving it connected all night.....every night.....as Apple recommends......correct?
If not, set up the battery for Optimized Battery Charging and connect the power adapter to the phone at night and leave it connected all night......every night.
Phones which are powered on but not being used are still working behind the scenes. What Bob Timons recommended is absolutely correct. Your phone should be plugged in to charge when you go to bed at night and stay plugged in ALL night, EVERY night. Read this about when to charge your iPhone --> When to charge your iPhone or iPad - Apple Community
Your phone did lose a lot of charge while it was idle, so you had some processes working overtime while you slept. Force Restart your iPhone to close whatever was working overtime --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

The mystery here is WHY aren't you plugging your phone in to charge when you go to bed at night and leave it plugged in ALL night EVERY night. You are aging your battery faster by not doing this. Is that what you are hoping to accomplish? Read the advice in the posts in this thread.
Yup. It sure was helpful because I'm not worrying about waking up to a drained phone, but I think there's something wrong with my phone. Today I charged about 3 times from 20% to 80, and my total screen time for today is just 7 hours, and through online some suggested it wasn't normal. maybe a software bug or defective battery?

Thank you so much!
You're welcome.
I have the weather app widget and calendars widget on my home screen. Could one of it be the culprit?
a few days ago the weather app did show significant battery usage overnight while I slept. when I removed it from my home screen, it still happened.
Did you follow our advice.....and Apple's recommendations.....above?
