FaceTime unstable connection

Hey, I’ve been having this super annoying problem ever since updating my iPhone to iOS 26.1. During FaceTime calls, it randomly says “Unstable Connection,” freezes for a second, spins, and then the call just drops. And then, if I try to call the person back right after, it usually won’t go through at all and the calls don’t pop up on their side either.

I’ve tried literally everything I could find online—restarting my phone, resetting network settings, checking Wi-Fi, turning FaceTime off and nothing works. It keeps happening, and it’s really frustrating, especially when I’m trying to stay on calls for a while.

Any idea what’s causing this or if it’s just something that came with the 26.1 update? Any help would be amazing.

Turn OFF Private Wi-Fi Address (Most Effective)

iOS 26.1 is incorrectly handling FaceTime relay negotiation when using random MAC addresses.

Go to:

Settings → Wi-Fi → (Your Network) → Private Wi-Fi Address → OFF

Reconnect to Wi-Fi → try FaceTime again.

This reduces dropped calls for many users.
