Client not receiving text messages from apps

I have a client who doesn't receive text messages from apps- the kind that just show a five digit number, so she doesnt recieve my appointment reminders. she has no idea why that happens. is there a setting she can change?

i don’t know which model she has- definitely older than my 16e.
