MacBook GarageBand: Cannot record multiple tracks

I selected "record enable" under "track" in GarageBand on a Macbook, but it is not allowing me to press record on both tracks at the same time.

Any advice on how I can click the small record icon on both and have them record at the same time?

To record multiple tracks at the same time in GarageBand:

  1. GarageBand → Settings/Preferences → Advanced → Enable Multi-Track Recording
  2. Track → Enable Record on Multiple Tracks
  3. Make sure each track has its own input
  4. Use an audio interface if you need more than one simultaneous mic/instrument input

After enabling multi-track recording, you will be able to arm both tracks and record them together.
