Cannot moved unlocked track in GarageBand

After updating to macOS 26, I cannot move a track in GarageBand. I record or even bring in audio and it is as if it is locked to its spot. It is not. I have locked it and unlocked it, but it shall not be moved. Bug? Glitch? I cannot use GarageBand and I must be able to. HELP!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 26.0

Ok. ChatGPT helped me. If anyone needs to know:

🧩 1. The Region Is “Locked in Place” by the Playhead / Edit Focus Bug

This is a known quirk in 10.4.x.

Try this:

  1. Click outside the region (in an empty area of the track).
  2. Then click once on the region again (don’t double-click).
  3. Now, instead of dragging immediately, click-hold for half a second, then drag.
    • If you drag too fast after selection, GarageBand sometimes doesn’t register it as a drag event and just “locks” the selection.

👉 This bug shows up most after trimming or quantizing audio.
