I use the clock app regularly to set alarms. however, they have recently changed the app to clip alarm text to 8 characters for the display. As such I can no longer read my alarm names if more than 8 characters. Was this done intentionally?

Personal note - You can name alarms? I learned something new. Doubt I'll ever use it, though.
The full text is still stored and visible when editing an alarm.

I see that you are getting the full alarm name when the full screen comes up. I can confirm that I now get that too. That only comes up when the phone is not active. So the issue may now be contained to just when you get the “banner” only, not the full screen, for the alarm. I think this happens when the device is active and the alarm goes off. Instead of getting the full screen you get the short banner with the truncated text. Then you have to search on the time to see the full text.
