iPhone 16 Pro MagSafe charging stops after a few minutes

Recently (and before the new update) on several occasions when using a magsafe charging device at night, after showing its charging, the charging then shuts off after a few minutes. When plugged in to a cable, it continues to charge. I thought it might be due to a faulty charger but the same charger works on my wife's phone. I've tried changing all kinds of options in the battery settings regarding optimization, etc. It appears that this has something to with with my regular charging habits, but I'm mystified. This has been happening every night, but on a few occasions it continued charging after sticking it back on the charger. I just think there's something I'm missing, unless it's a problem with the Mag charging system in the phone. What can I try? TIA.
