iPhone acts like it’s connected to car

My iPhone constantly has issues with my microphone. It acts like I’m still connected to my car when I’m nowhere near it. When I try to use Siri, I see the icon that shows I’m connected to my car. I can’t use voice dictation or ask Siri anything without having to restart my phone. Very frustrating.

I have a CarPlay adapter dongle that connects thru WiFi. How do I reset the network?

More than likely the USB port in the car is staying powered on. Your phone connects to it using bluetooth first, then negotiates a wifi connection and drops the bluetooth connection.

I've seen this on a few vehicles. The simplest way to deal with it is to unplug the dongle when you get home and park the car. Plug it back in when you get back in to drive.

I use a dongle in my car for wireless CarPlay. Every once in a while, the car 'checks in' with the manufacturer's service to report status (doors locked, location, etc.) When it does that, the USB port powers on for a minute or two. If I'm within range, my phone will connect to it and drop whatever I might be connected to.

It's the price we pay for being able to seamlessly connect to everything around us...
