New iPhone 17 regular ios 26.1 no internet on 4g/LTE and WiFi

New iPhone 17 regular ios 26.1 no internet on 4g/LTE and WiFi.

Maps/Safari, etc only work on 5g.

Can connect to home WiFi but eventually shows 'No internet Connection' in red. Did this in the Verizon store off and on. Tried updating router firmware, still won't work. Other phones, SE Orig ios 15.85, Samsung, laptop no problems. Auto switches to 4g/LTE a lot as not my 5g in my area. Could not use maps. iPhone SE worked fine on 4TLE.

Apple store genius not much help though they did try and sell me a charger.

Any way of making the clock on the lock screen more visible? Now gray on darker gray and black default background screen. Reduce transparency ON did not affect nor did increase contrast. Flashback of ios 9 when they made the phone keypad harder to read and not honor the bold setting. Should I think about returning and trying a Samsung?

iPhone SE, iOS 15

Do you by chance have a VPN installed on your phone (used or not). If yes, get rid of it completely, including any associated app, restart your iPhone then try to again.

For your lock screen read this ALL the way through, which includes options for your lock screen --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Thanks for the lock screen tip. I'll try that later.

I have no VPN that I installed. Verizon did the transfer from my SE Orig by placing the old phone on top of the new one. I'm guessing it uses Air Drop? Nothing at all installed so far as I got it Tuesday night and when we had to leave it was still transferring. 1h 45m instead of the 25m they thought it would take. Working out problems with billing and the phone since then.

Is there any sort of VPN pre installed?

Did you ever have a VPN on the SE? Open Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. Do you see anything listed as an installed VPN? If you had one on the SE, you'd have transferred the profile over to the new phone.

I just tried editing the default lock screen (I use that for now because the background is mostly dark, conserving battery) and got the following error. I used the 'Customize Current Wallpaper' option. I was able to add a custom wallpaper but did not see where to add the stock picture.

One other issue is when you edit the text color after changing to solid, you can select white but if you want a very light gray, say 250,250,250 you don't get that gray, it's darker like there is still some transparency going on. Drag the sliders to the left and there is a point where it does stay solid maybe around 3/4 of the toward the right. I see no place to add an image file.
