iPod Nana 4 and iTunes.

I have an iPod Nano 4 that I can’t get to communicate with iTunes on Windows 10 or 11. The Nano playlist is not on my iTunes. Apple Devices asks if I want to import the songs. Those songs are already in my library. I don’t want to do that. I want to be able to see the Nano playlist and add songs to the IPod since I have about a gig free on the IPod. Any help would be greatly appreciated, preferably step by step. TIA
