I updated my Mac Pro 2019 to Tahoe, this was not easy and I didn't think it would work but, What I did was this:

• Updated to Tahoe and upon restart, it stalled at the Apple Logo for "HOURS" but it finally booted up to the startup screen.

• I let it sit for "HOURS" to let Spotlight catalog everything, only then did it start to really come back to normal speeds without a lot of slow chugging.

• Then I erased the hard drive and started over after backing up the drive on Time Machine. Now the computer acts like a new machine.

I suspect that when I did this, the machine didn't need to index all the useless and/or incompatible obsolete files that didn't work on the system. I suggest this method vs trying to get the INTEL machine to work with Tahoe with all your old stuff. Start fresh, you'll spend less time figuring things out.

I have the 16”. So that is not compatible?

So either the original information is faulty or something else is amiss

Me too. 2019 MacBook Pro, 2.4 ghz Intel i9, 32 gb Ram. Mainly can't open the App Store and sometimes System settings. Trouble with iMessage also.
I have restarted, logged out and restart.

Did you try Safe Mode as suggested by @leroydouglas? Was there any difference between booting normally?

Both you and the OP should run the third party app EtreCheck.

How to use the Add Text Feature When Posting an EtreCheck Report - Apple Community

You, @jax44, should create a new thread and post the complete EtreCheck report there so your issue can get the attention it deserves since the reason for the problems may have completely different sources even though the symptoms appear identical.

Besides, trying to help multiple people in a single thread ends up getting very confusing for everyone resulting in neither user getting the attention they deserve.
