CarPlay Freezing and Resetting iPhone.

CarPlay freezes and causes the iPhone to reset when using CarPlay wirelessly upon the vehicle start every time and sometimes multiple times while driving. This is happening on my iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 26.2 and my wife's iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 26.2. The infotainment screen in our vehicles will show a blank black screen instead of CarPlay and the audio from the iPhone will play and can be heard through the vehicles speakers. This issue didn't start until the software update to iOS 26.2

If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions are turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and then tap Forget This Car.

Search for accessories that have completed MFi certification. Once an accessory has completed MFi certification requirements and is reported to Apple as sold/distributed, it will be searchable in our public database of authorized Lightning, headset, charging, iAP-enabled, and Find My network-enabled accessories.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Take your car to a reputable car dealer or car audio specialist. They have experienced technicians who can diagnose the problem with the Aux cable. This could be a loose connection, a faulty cable itself, or an issue with the system's Aux port. They'll be able to repair the issue or recommend a replacement cable if needed.
  2. Consult your car's infotainment system manuals. These manuals often include troubleshooting sections that might address common Aux cable problems. You might find instructions for resetting the system, cleaning the Aux port, or confirming the cable's compatibility.

Before taking your car to a dealer, it's always a good idea to check the manuals first. This can sometimes save you time and money if it's a simple fix you can handle yourself. However, if the manuals don't offer a solution, or you're uncomfortable tinkering with the system, then a car audio specialist is the way to go.

Already done this 3 times and spent an hour on the phone with Apple today. Software is up to date on everything. This started after the 26.2 update. It has nothing to do with the car. Every suggestion given has been done and it hasn’t solved anything. My part is finished it’s in Apples hands. Does anyone have any insight other than the same old copy paste from apples website and videos? No I’m not interested in upgrading to a new phone. Before replying please read everything above this post first.

CarPlay Freezing and Resetting iPhone.: […]This issue didn't start until the software update to iOS 26.2

CarPlay Issues After an Update:

A. Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

B. Update your Audio, if an Option:

Many car audio systems have the option to install firmware updates. So, see if there are any available for you. I wouldn’t expect that backing up your cars stereo would be an option, but if it’s, then you should back it up prior to and after the update install.

About my Reply:

I don’t quote posts in-full, as it would be a waste of space to prove my point. It’s the way I author my posts. Copying & Pasting is not ideal, as the format would be lost, but screenshots and hyperlinks are permitted.

So, another thought would be to clear your System Data. This is caches, which are created so that applications open quicker for ease of access. So, clear those. Use my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage: - Apple Community

Like I said in your duplicate thread, how are forum volunteers supposed to know what you already tried if you didn't tell us.

How about the "thank you for that advice but..." approach to responses, you will get more help.
