Water spill on MacBook Air

I spilled water on my MacBook Air. Everything but the keyboard and touchpad works. I was able to use the internet, software, apps and some games as long as I used my mouse. I shut down and am not able to login without a keyboard. The screen works and mouse works ok, just can’t type in my password.

I suffered a water spill a few weeks ago but most of the water spill happened where the computer was inside the backpack. Although the water spill was mostly absorbed by the backpack, some condensation made it into one of the usb-c ports. This spill happened around a few weeks before the computer's scheduled retirement, as it is six years old and not compatible with the latest version of macOS. I have been preparing the computer for retirement for the previous week and a half, and I am planning to retire my computer by the end of this week. The replacement machine wont arrive until after the new year.

Good lesson learned. Never place your computer and water in the same backpack.
