How do you cancel the Temply video app “free” trial?

https://www.templyvideo.com

I just signed up for a three day free trial, with a $69 charge due if you don’t cancel.

I found it a little weird that when you sign up for the free trial, it makes you pay by credit card rather than through the App Store.

So preemptively, I screenshot the credit card sign-up page with terms that states it’s free for 3 days then $69 afterward.

(Sure enough, the payment doesn’t show up through Apple subscriptions.)

I went to cancel the app immediately after signing up, but there is no option to cancel on the app. So I sent an email to their email on the app ios@templyvideo.com

(no response after 24 hours, so I emailed again within 48 hours later…. still waiting on a response).

I googled this issue and found very little advice other than to contact my bank (which I just did) and ultimately decided to just cancel my credit card before the $69 charge just to avoid a frustrating credit card dispute.

But does anyone have experience with this shady app, and what happened in your situation?

Review the information in this support article by clicking on the link to learn how to cancel a subscription from Apple. ➔ If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

If you subscribed to this directly with a third party, see: About purchases not billed through the App Store or Apple In-App Purchase - Apple Support instead. You need to work directly with the vendor, not Apple.

Notes:

• "If you signed up [which involves very intentional steps by you or a user of your device, accompanied by warnings along the way] for a free or discounted trial subscription and you don't want to renew it, cancel it at least 24 hours before the trial ends." Note that by using an app like this you are automatically agreeing (always read the fine print) to this happening, are responsible for reading if this will happen, and canceling the subscription before the trial ends.

• Deleting an app does not cancel a subscription.

• An existing subscription will normally continue until the end of its term and may then renew automatically. Stopping automatic renewal is effectively canceling it. "If you don’t see Cancel Subscription, then the subscription is already canceled and won't renew." The "Expires" date means the current subscription will just run until then. • Canceling a subscription does not automatically start a refund.

• If you had a free trial previously, you do not get a second one and a subscription will start immediately.

Got it. So it sounds like (in regards to the Temply Video app) it’s best to not sign up for their free trials at all because it prompts you to put in your credit card information outside of the protection of Apple, with no way to cancel the trial, and no recourse, other than to dispute the credit card charge or close out your card before they take the money out of your account.
