Make Pages print correctly to 2"x1" labels (where "portrait" is wider than "landscape")?

  1. Add a custom paper size in Page Setup in Pages 14.1 - in this case 2"x1", because it's a label printer.
  2. Set all the margins to "0"
  3. set orientation to "portrait" (though same thing happens if I set "landscape")
  4. Type something in the 2x1 text box when I create a new document.
  5. Notice that the page orientation is set to the one on the right ("landscape"
  6. When printing, notice that the text is rotated 90 degrees and prints across two labels.
  7. Look for ANY WAY to make it switch this up so it prints correctly (just choosing the other Page Orientation yields text that is laid out wrong).
  8. BE VERY VERY FRUSTRATED.
  9. Halp.

I would expect that the "wrong" approach is telling me what I "should" be doing instead of explaining how to make the software backed by the multi-billion-dollar corporation behave as it's supposed to.

I know that label printing software exists. If you can't offer something helpful for my actual problem, please don't comment at all. Thanks!
