Transferring to new phone. Why's the old one still work?

Okay, I transferred my phone number from my iPhone 6s to my new iPhone 13. So how come my old iPhone still works? Not for making calls, but texting and receiving calls?

So, is the phone ringing, and you are able to to answer these calls? If you are getting transcripts and call recording, then this might be the case: Record and Transcribe a cCall on iPhone - Apple Support

Use Quick Start for Transferring Data:

To transfer data from the old iPhone to the new iPhoneQuick Start is the best route to take: Use Quick Start to Transfer Data to a New iPhone or iPad - Apple Support. If you did not perform this, then reset your new iPhone to Factory Settings, and then perform this transfer, once more, this time, however, using Quick Start.
