Activity Tracker not operating after charging watch

The activity tracker locks up after I charge my watch. this started a few weeks ago. The delay can be 15 minutes or significantly longer. I have tried restarting both phone and watch. OS 26.2 for both. Series 7 watch. The Activity app may appear normal or it may be greyed out. It is not a consistent presentation except that it is not tracking any activity.

To rule out a software issue, erase the watch and pair it again, setting it up as a new device, without using the back up. You will only lose your created Watch faces and may have to activate the cards in your Wallet app again.

After that try to record an activity.

I am having the exact same issue. Coming off the charger all activity related tracking freezes from 15 minutes to over an hour.

OS is up to date, sensors clean, watch is attached to the same wrist using the same band I've used for the past three years. Even restarting the watch does not really fix the issue.

This seems to have started happening with the OS 26.x updates.

And I've exchanged the entire watch thinking it was a hardware issue. But the new watch does the exact same thing.

It's down to a bug with the activity app, or a software conflict.

I'm having the exact same issue with a brand new Apple Watch SE which I purchased in April 2025. I followed these steps and the watch worked fine for about 1-2 weeks then the issue started happening again.

This did not fix it. Are we just supposed to keep pairing and unpairing our watch every 1-2 weeks or is Apple actually going to fix this?

What is the point of owning this thing if you can't use it for fitness? I love having my personal data tracked and sent to the NSA as much as anyone, but c'cmon.
