Why are 'Urgent Reminders' only on my work phone?

I just upgraded my personal phone, and tried to turn on an 'Urgent' reminder. I got this pop-up saying I have to go to my work phone to allow alarms? It appears to imply the urgent alarm will *only* work on the work phone?

I have questions..

Is that correct, it's only on one phone?
Assuming yes, how can I change it so that it's only on my personal phone? (That's where I turned on the urgent reminder!)

Hi, this discussion mentions that the Urgent Reminders are only sent to the iPhone that defines your position: iOS26.2 and macOS Tahoe 26.2 Reminders-Ur… - Apple Community.

If you want your personal device to receive the urgent reminders alerts, go to Settings > [your name] > Find My on your personal device and tap "Use this iPhone as my location."

The real question is why are you signed into the same Apple account on both devices?

You should really be using separate Apple IDs on your work and personal devices.

Disable the urgent reminders option on your work phone and turn it on on your personal phone if that's where you want the alarms to sound.

I always use the same Apple ID on all devices - both are a bit mixed use case, and that’s what works for me.

Ok - I didn’t initially see where to enable Urgent reminders (Settings > Reminders), but will have another look, thanks for the tip!

I still think it could be improved to allow urgent reminders on any of our devices. I have two phones one as my daily general phone, and one as a Spotify server and carplay navigator. I would like an urgent reminder on that one, but as you saw from my linked thread it cannot be done, so a feature request can be made at https://apple.com/feedback
