How to change payment method on Family iCloud plan without access to deceased account holder's Apple Account?

Hi! I need to cancel the Family iCloud plan I’m subscribed to. The account was created by my father, and I can’t access his account because he passed away and his phone is currently being held by the prosecutor’s office.

What I mainly need is to change the credit card on that account, since the bank is going to cancel it.

I can provide any information you need to verify the account, but I can’t access my father’s Apple Account because he passed away and his iPhone is currently held by the prosecutor’s office. I need help either removing me from the Family iCloud subscription or changing the payment method, since the current credit card will be cancelled by the bank. Please let me know what information you require for verification.

Note, if you have an Apple Music subscription and leave a group and even for a very short while you have no ongoing subscription active, you will lose all playlists. There are workarounds but they are complicated and I won't post one unless I know you need it.

You will ultimately need to have everybody leave that group and form a new one if they so wish, with a different organizer.

Hello,

This is a user to user forum, you are not addressing Apple here.

You will need access to the account to change the payment method. There is no way around it.

If you have documentation to prove you are the inheritor you contact Apple support directly and request access to the account.
