Safari doesn't open the home page.

I'm running Safari 26.1 on a Mac Mini M2 running Tahoe 26.1 and I'm ****** that Safari has stopped opening the home page when starting up. It opens the last page I was on, unless I actively go back to my home page. This is opposite to 20 years of Mac actions.

I HAVE a home page. I don't want to change that. I use Google as my home page (I know, evil...) When I shut Safari off and restart it, if I don't go back to Google, it doesn't open with Google, it opens with whatever I was on before. I WANT it to open on my home page, LIKE IT DID FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. And Apple isn't giving me that choice any more. Sorry for yelling. People aren't understanding my question.

Okay, here's the procedure, I have a home page, it's Google. I use it to search the web. If i shut Safari with Facebook open, then come back and start it up, Safari starts up with Facebook as the first page. I want Google as the first page, always. Because I shut Safari off on my Mac Mini. It's not like closing the lid on a laptop. I actively shut off programs.

Refer to Quit apps on Mac - Apple Support, and consider altering the setting that causes app windows to either close or not close when quitting the app.

Why. There is no need nor any benefit to quitting programs on Macs, or iOS devices for that matter. It seems to me that 20 year old habit is only causing you to become angry.

If you click the red icon (top left of the window) to close Safari, Safari will reopen with no previous tabs. Otherwise you can open Safari while pressing the shift key. This will have the same effect.

Quitting Safari using Safari > Quit (or command + Q) will keep the active tabs in memory. They will be automatically opened when reopening Safari (except while preset the shift key.)

Safari doesn't open the home page.
