Erratic scrolling in YouTube app only on AppleTV with physical remote on tvOS 26

Since around the 26.1 tvOS update, I have very erratic scrolling on the YouTube app only on my older AppleTV 4K and standard AppleTV devices when using the remote control. When scrolling across or down, the scroll will often change directions between scroll attempts. It usually starts out scrolling in the correct direction but will then spontaneously switch to scrolling in the opposite direction. This occurs on both of my AppleTVs but only with the remote. With the remote app on my iPhone, scrolling is working correctly. All other scrolling is working normally in both the Home Screen and other apps. I have submitted a bug report to Google but have received no response. Is anyone else seeing this behavior? I have rebooted the AppleTVs, have logged out and in, and have uninstalled and reinstalled. This weird scrolling occurs whether I am logged in or not to my Google account. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

if there is an issue after an update of the tvOS only in 1 app then it's rather unlikely that it is an issue that will ever be fixed by anyone but the developer of said app (google)

It’s not just you. I noticed this issue within the last week or so. I’m thinking it’s an issue with the YouTube app itself since the issue doesn’t occur on the Home Screen or within other apps. I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling, completely resetting the Apple TV box, and thoroughly cleaning the remote.

I try using mostly top part of the touch area on remote and it seem to work corectly for me. Hope this help.

First try quitting the YouTube App and restarting your Apple tv

I have only seen this in one app. I have about 25 apps on my AppleTV, and YouTube is the only one that shows this behavior.

even if it was all, and apple made some changes that required all the developers of apps to update their app to be complient with the platform, then that would be the nature of developing apps for a platform.

same when they cut tied with 32bit apps and when things changed with printing and older unsupported (by the printer manufacturer (because they don't really make any revenue by making printer drivers for models they don't even sell anymore)) printers stops working with newer os's

Same issue on YouTube with Apple TV remote. Seems to be mitigated if I use iPhone remote app for scrolling. That was quite accurate going up down left right. Have to use these workaround when browsing YouTube. Sigh for all these big name only care about AI and revenue instead of focusing on customer experience.

I’ve had the same issue in YouTube since updating the OS. If I try to scroll right it sometimes goes left other times goes right.

I’ve noticed this as well. However, if I swipe too low, it’ll either scroll backwards or even scroll down.

I did report this to Google as a bug back in December as mentioned in my original post, but never got a response (although not surprised). I started this discussion to see if anyone else had experienced the issue, which I now know is the case. If others who are bothered by this want to also post about it in the YouTube community link you provided, maybe that would encourage YouTube’s AppleTV app developers to finally address this.

I am also having this issue on my 3rd gen 64gb model, and my freshly installed today 128gb model. For me this behavior only happens using the Apple TV Remote App on my iPhone 17 Pro. Using the physical remote scrolls normally. It’s been like this for months now.
