Upgrading from iPhone 8+ (IOS16) to iPhone 17

You can use Quick Start for a direct transfer or you can restore from either an iCloud backup or a backup made to your Mac or Windows PC.

You should be able to use Quick Start to transfer most data directly from your iPhone 8 Plus to your iPhone 17.

However, I do not believe that Quick Start transfers purchased music. If you have any purchased music on your current iPhone that you want to put on your new phone, you will need to

• Manually synchronize your new phone against your music library on your Mac or Windows PC, and/or
• Re-download music purchased from the iTunes Store directly from the iTunes Store to the new phone

(This assumes that you're not using "Sync Library" with an iTunes Match or Apple Music subscription.)

From what I read, you cannot transfer iPhone 8 info/data directly to iPhone 17.

Where did you read this? Certainly, it was not from Apple.

What you read was incorrect.

However can I transfer (download) data etc... from iPhone8's iCloud backup to iPhone 17?
