Face ID not working after updating latest IOS on my Apple iPhone 14

i updated latest iOS on my Apple 14 phone

now Face ID doesn’t recognise me and now locked me out of banking apps etc

I have tried everything -allows me so far with passcode but won’t allow me to change setting of Face ID without Face ID first


I have an appointment with Apple genius soon but then that takes me away from familiar place and I don’t want to master reset


anyone have any ideas apart from the ones already tested and failed even Apple support couldn’t help !

If you have Stolen Device Protection enabled and Face ID is disabled there is no way to turn off Stolen Device Protection; if there was, it wouldn't provide any protection against a thief or finder breaking into the iPhone.


Thus, if Face ID is not working and you can't fix it, the only option is to restore the iPhone to factory settings→Restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support


Most often if Face ID doesn't respond that is a hardware problem, but here are some troubleshooting tips→If Face ID is disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support. Note the last step if all else fails is to contact Apple Support using the link in the support article.

If you maintain proper backups (such as automatic nightly backups) then a restore from backup is a simple procedure. And, in your case, since the phone is still working you can make a computer backup now, then restore it.


But think about it; if there was any way to bypass Stolen Device Protection then it would be no protection at all, because any way available to you would also be available to the thief who had your iPhone. There is always a tradeoff between security and convenience.

I worry about re-setting it as I don’t want to lose all the banking and credit cards etc I have set up on this phone (actually using another phone at the moment which is linked to my Apple ID and has no issues with the Face ID 🙏


I will take my Apple laptop with me to Apple Genius appointment in a few days so everything can be backed up properly via iTunes


I think I will leave it to the experts as one wrong move on my part and my life could be in ruins ! 🤯

Thank you for your response and it’s reassuring to know about cards in wallet are safe and stored safely in ICloud -I have been down a rabbit hole from 7am this morning not making any progression at all


I get it ! Security etc but there should be a way to re-establish myself with my phone beyond wiping all the data off and starting again, jeez


wish I hadn’t started with Apple now it’s so anxiety provoking -even the experts are struggling to resolve this


guess its reset at the Apple shop and make sure I know what I’m doing in settings in the future !
