iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) worst upgrade ever.

iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) is riddled with issues, bugs, lack of functionality, lags, etc. will apple start listening??

I already tried submitting multiple ‘feedback’ requests to apple, funnily enough, there is a character limit so you can’t actually describe all the issues in just one message. Says a lot about the issues.. not sure where to begin but the first one to point out as I’m typing this is the slow keyboard, lag in typing and displaying and the spacing of letters.

The screen delays, the swiping, the odd circle that stays around what you “click” as a bubble, the slow response in safari, the odd settings changes that NO one asked for. The constant “suggestions” from apple either in mail (no apple, I don’t need you to tell me to unsubscribe to every email I get I can make my own decisions) the car suggestion, and yes I have these turned off.. (trying to figure out how was a mission in itself because why would it be user friendly..)

The changing between apps is awful, slow and clunky, screens hang there without responding until they do. Not being able to change the way I want to display the date format on the locked screen, it’s my phone I want to use it how it suits me not how “apple thinks you want to use it”

I can keep going. It’s a rant I know but this is the first time there are SO MANY issues not just one here or there, that I had to do this.

I again repeat yes I have submitted feedback to the official channels. This is me sharing my frustrations with the community.

I just installed the update today and spent over an hour trying to fix all the screen display and other issues I dislike. If you haven't installed it yet, don't!!!! I researched the update online and most of the irritants are impossible to fix... all of which are Home Screen and keyboard related. So basically will be staring at them every minute of every use. I've never cursed so much at an inanimate object!

Good luck to all... and, Apple designers and executives... how could your focus group testing not pick up on this before approving and launching the update?!?

iOS/iPadOS 26.1 introduced a new setting that subtly changes the appearance of Liquid Glass:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass - select Clear or Tinted

If you are experiencing challenges with the new Liquid Glass UI, there are settings that can significantly improve the appearance and suppress the majority of unwanted effects:

  1. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency - set to ON
  2. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast - set to ON
  3. Settings > Accessibility > [Motion] Reduce Motion - set to ON

Each if these settings can be used individually, or in combination. Setting Reduce Transparency alone (1) will likely suppress the majority of potential issues. The Reduce Motion setting (3), if used, will eliminate the "lensing" effects of the Liquid Glass UI. Experiment; you should find a combination that works for you.

I suggest that you begin with setting Reduce Transparency to ON - and then, if needed, experiment with additional use of one or more of the other options.

NB: The new Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass setting can only be changed/toggled while Reduce Transparency is set to OFF. You might find that setting Liquid Glass to Clear, prior to enabling Reduced Transparency to ON, may give the best result.

Liquid Glass will undoubtedly continue to evolve throughout the lifespan of iOS/iPadOS 26. Hopefully, Apple will provide additional controls over time to refine the visual aspects to suit the individual needs of end-users. Many have commented that while Liquid Glass is "pretty", it is arguably form over function - reducing legibility and usability for some users. Some here also strongly advocate for this new look; others express dislike, or have significant difficulty with its legibility.

If you have any constructive feedback concerning Liquid Glass, or would lime to see changes or additional flexibility in its configuration, you should submit comments via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad:

That happens when you hold the space bar down and is also true on any previous iOS versions too. If you are not holding down the space bar, then:

Perform a Force Restart:

  • Press and quickly release Volume Up
  • Press and quickly release Volume Down
  • Press and HOLD the side button until the Apple logo appears. This may take up to 15 seconds before you see the Apple Logo and you have to ignore anything else on the screen during that time. If you do not see the Apple logo then try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

Or:

  • Your digitizer may be failing and you are seeing a "ghost" touch.

The only place I have seen that reported is on Social Media sites where some would post a screenshot such as that as a prank while holding the space bar and other people fall for it.

Yes. All my apps keep disappearing. ALL OF THEM.

The only posts I have seen where the apps will disappear following the update is when the device is associated with Family Sharing where improvements have been made in Parental Controls relating to the change in Age Ratings for apps. Previously a parent could not remove an app from a members device that had previously been authorized and changes in age ratings did not affect the apps currently installed on the phone.

If that is not the case for you, then I would recommend to contact Apple directly where they can perform remote diagnostics or schedule an appointment with Apple.

If you prefer to switch to an Android phone, that is your choice. There is an entirely different Support page for those that are having problems with those devices. Ironically you see the same posts over there that users are fed up with their devices and are switching to the iPhone. Not sure the reason why some say that, but I would certainly recommend to anyone that they should purchase a device that best meets their needs and would not stop them from doing that.

I clicked "remind me later" this morning and it shut down and uploaded right before my commute. I have an iPhone 16 Pro I got Sept 2024 and the update was 1OS 26.2 (23C55). I don't mind any IOS updates, but this is absolutely terrible. It took 30 mins to install and then, the phone I love is now the phone I hate.

It took me so much time today to figure out every simple thing on my phone -- this is NOT a minor update.

Everything you do quickly each day REQUIRES 3 MORE STEPS TO DO SO. I'm talking about text, video, PHOTOS, and 4 of the most used apps I use each day for my commute (train info, etc), only show up with nothing but white text. Lastly, until yesterday, my phone would have 88% power on my commute home with no charging. Today, it was at 28% on my commute home, and my phone was HOT. My phone has never been hot. Not to mention any text or phone call is 3 extra steps.

Beyond that I have a medical app that will not sync with my body.

What are the options, how to get rid of it? Do I get a new iPhone 15? I don't think I can revert back from this horrible update. I simply do NOT understand how they think prolonging the process to take an impromptu pic or video and take it to 3 steps and make you spend 10 secs doing that instead of 1 second is baffling?

What can be done?

Thank you for sharing this. Had I not already gone to Specsavers a couple of weeks before the update, I would definite think I needed to go. Even with my glasses on, I have really struggled being able to see widgets properly and am even struggling with normal text too. I've made the settings changes you have requested which has made it much better (albeit not quite as happy as I was with it before). I think this must have been designed by someone in their 20s with 20/20 vision with no regard for anyone over 40. That said, my 19 year old son (without glasses) doesn't like it either! Also finding it hard to open links that are embedded in text messages or emails, and don't get me started on trying to open (or close!) a page on Safari.

Hi, iOS 26 and Liquid Glass are simply the design Apple has chosen to go with, for now. The iPhone User Interface has had several major redesigns in its near 20 year history. The last major redesign was iOS 7, back in 2014. We all somehow managed to get through them all.

You may want to review the information in the article I linked to below. It explains the adjustments you can make to mitigate the effects of Liquid Glass that you’re experiencing.

Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Apple’s installed user base is over 1.5 billion users. Making a single user interface perfectly compatible for every user is literally impossible. Apple will make changes (or not make changes) based partially on the feedback they receive through their official channel, linked below and good luck.

Siri Learns

Siri Suggestions is a feature that helps enhance your experience by providing intelligent recommendations and shortcuts. It learns from your actions and app usage, gradually understanding your preferences and routines. The list of suggestions will automatically populate based on the apps you use, the times you typically use them, and your interactions with your device.

For example, if you often message a particular contact in the morning, Siri might suggest sending a message to them around that time. If you frequently listen to a specific playlist or podcast on your commute, Siri will offer that suggestion when you're typically heading out. Similarly, Siri can offer suggestions for actions like opening apps, setting reminders, or using shortcuts based on your behavior over time.

These suggestions are personalized, meaning they adapt to your habits and can change based on the context of your day, helping you save time and stay organized without having to manually search for apps or tasks. You can access Siri Suggestions from the lock screen, the search bar, and even in the "Siri & Search" settings, where you can customize how and when they appear.

Make Siri Forget.

To unlearn or reset Siri Suggestions, the only way to completely clear Siri's memory of your past actions is to restore your device from an old backup. This process essentially reverts your device to a previous state, including your app usage, preferences, and habits that Siri has learned.

When Siri Suggestions learn from your behavior, they collect data about the apps you use, the contacts you interact with, and the routines you follow. While you can disable or limit Siri Suggestions in the settings, they will not be fully reset unless you restore the device. This means the suggestions will still be based on your current usage, even if you turn them off.

If you wish to clear this learning history, restoring from an old backup—preferably one before Siri started learning or making suggestions—will remove all the stored data. However, be aware that restoring a backup will also revert your device’s settings, apps, and data to that previous state, which could result in the loss of more recent data.

See the pic below that may help you

Disable if you do not want the suggestions.

That's correct. Each feedback you submit should be about one issue. Different issues will get routed to different teams.

And feedback works both ways. I sent feedback thanking Apple for iOS 26 as I think it's a GIANT leap forward.

Your choice, I installed it on my Intel Mac and it looks great. Of course this is a Support Site, so neither of our opinions have any relevance. That may be a topic for a Social Media site where there are plenty to choose from, but s Support Site is dedicated to describing an issue you are having where there are other users that are just like you that may be able to provide some assistance. Beyond that you will just be advised to send feedback to Apple directly where they will see your concerns.

You should always choose a device that best meets your needs and preferences. At an individual level, Apple and other manufacturers won't notice your defection to the other side.

Android has other pitfalls, many of which you are likely to similarly dislike. Be aware that any purchased Apps cannot be moved between platforms - and will have to be purchased again if you wish to continue using them.

Do you realize that the preview was released back in June and anyone was able to participate in the public beta process to provide feedback at that time. Even you could have contributed if you wished.

Stay tuned, you may have an opportunity to be part of the "focus group testing" in a few months for the next major release at the end of the year if the normal cycle continues.
