iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) worst upgrade ever.

iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) is riddled with issues, bugs, lack of functionality, lags, etc. will apple start listening??

I already tried submitting multiple ‘feedback’ requests to apple, funnily enough, there is a character limit so you can’t actually describe all the issues in just one message. Says a lot about the issues.. not sure where to begin but the first one to point out as I’m typing this is the slow keyboard, lag in typing and displaying and the spacing of letters.

The screen delays, the swiping, the odd circle that stays around what you “click” as a bubble, the slow response in safari, the odd settings changes that NO one asked for. The constant “suggestions” from apple either in mail (no apple, I don’t need you to tell me to unsubscribe to every email I get I can make my own decisions) the car suggestion, and yes I have these turned off.. (trying to figure out how was a mission in itself because why would it be user friendly..)

The changing between apps is awful, slow and clunky, screens hang there without responding until they do. Not being able to change the way I want to display the date format on the locked screen, it’s my phone I want to use it how it suits me not how “apple thinks you want to use it”

I can keep going. It’s a rant I know but this is the first time there are SO MANY issues not just one here or there, that I had to do this.

I again repeat yes I have submitted feedback to the official channels. This is me sharing my frustrations with the community.

I just installed the update today and spent over an hour trying to fix all the screen display and other issues I dislike. If you haven't installed it yet, don't!!!! I've never cursed so much at an inanimate object!

Good luck to all... and, Apple designers and executives... how could your focus group testing not pick up on this before approving and launching the update?!?

iOS/iPadOS 26.1 introduced a new setting that subtly changes the appearance of Liquid Glass:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass - select Clear or Tinted

If you are experiencing challenges with the new Liquid Glass UI, there are settings that can significantly improve the appearance and suppress the majority of unwanted effects:

  1. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency - set to ON
  2. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast - set to ON
  3. Settings > Accessibility > [Motion] Reduce Motion - set to ON

Each if these settings can be used individually, or in combination. Setting Reduce Transparency alone (1) will likely suppress the majority of potential issues. The Reduce Motion setting (3), if used, will eliminate the "lensing" effects of the Liquid Glass UI. Experiment; you should find a combination that works for you.

I suggest that you begin with setting Reduce Transparency to ON - and then, if needed, experiment with additional use of one or more of the other options.

NB: The new Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass setting can only be changed/toggled while Reduce Transparency is set to OFF. You might find that setting Liquid Glass to Clear, prior to enabling Reduced Transparency to ON, may give the best result.

Liquid Glass will undoubtedly continue to evolve throughout the lifespan of iOS/iPadOS 26. Hopefully, Apple will provide additional controls over time to refine the visual aspects to suit the individual needs of end-users. Many have commented that while Liquid Glass is "pretty", it is arguably form over function - reducing legibility and usability for some users. Some here also strongly advocate for this new look; others express dislike, or have significant difficulty with its legibility.

If you have any constructive feedback concerning Liquid Glass, or would lime to see changes or additional flexibility in its configuration, you should submit comments via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad:

Along with the Terms of Use for this site, there is also a certain amount of etiquette that is expected. If you replied to a post that was removed, then yours would be removed too. This is Support Site, not a Social Media site where some are accustomed to rants or degrading others. What is expected here are technical support questions where others can contribute with helpful answers. None of us contributing here works for Apple, so anyone that wants to send Apple Feedback, then that should be done at the provided link.

This is the summary of what you are trying to say.

  • iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) feels overloaded with bugs, lag, and missing functionality.
  • Apple doesn’t seem to be listening, even after multiple feedback submissions.
  • Feedback forms have character limits, making it impossible to describe all the issues — ironic, given how many there are.
  • The keyboard is slow, laggy, and struggles to display typed text properly.
  • Screen responsiveness is delayed; swiping feels inconsistent.
  • A strange “click bubble” lingers after tapping items.
  • Safari is noticeably sluggish.
  • Settings keep changing in ways no one asked for.
  • Apple pushes constant “suggestions” (mail unsubscribe prompts, car suggestions), even when they’re turned off.
  • Turning these suggestions off wasn’t intuitive or user-friendly.
  • App switching is clunky, slow, and sometimes unresponsive.
  • Screens freeze or hang before finally responding.
  • Lock-screen customization is limited — can’t even change the date format the way you want.
  • Overall, this isn’t a handful of glitches but a long list of frustrations unlike any past iOS version.
  • Official feedback has already been submitted — this is simply sharing frustrations with the community.

hello, bonjour, I reread your painful experience and I feel that the most efficient way to bring you back on the path of a quality and enjoyable experience might be to book time at a genius bar if you are fortunate enough to have an apple store nearby, going through your evidences with an expert who might investigate more thoroughly with your phone in hand, I am sorry for not having the answer right now but I sincerely hope that a resolution will come soon, in the meantime enjoy life, take care. I too are having all the issues you just described. Is there anyway to go back to a previous version, most likely not. Did they conduct beta trials before this horrible 26.2 release. I hope a patch is released soon. My wife is still on 17.7.10 and so I turned off her auto up date to avoid this disastrous up date!

No, you cannot go back. And yes, they most definitely not only tested iOS 26 internally, they opened iOS 26 to the public in June to the public for Beta Testing, more than three months before iOS 26 was released officially. iOS 26, 26.1 and 26.2 have been incredibly stable releases. I've had absolutely no issues with them in the least.

There many things you can change with Liquid Glass in iOS 26. Read this ALL the way through --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Hi, iOS 26 and Liquid Glass are simply the design Apple has chosen to go with, for now. The iPhone User Interface has had several major redesigns in its near 20 year history. The last major redesign was iOS 7, back in 2014. We all somehow managed to get through them all.

You may want to review the information in the article I linked to below. It explains the adjustments you can make to mitigate the effects of Liquid Glass that you’re experiencing.

Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

Apple’s user base is literally over 1.5 billion users. Making a single user interface perfectly compatible for every user is literally impossible. Apple will make changes (or not make changes) based partially on the feedback they receive through their official channel, linked below and good luck.

Brontovc ~ As your iPhone 12 Pro Max could be >5 years old, it's worth checking for a weak, aging battery (which can cause connectivity issues.) So...

Does your iPhone 12 Pro Max still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...
Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

Correct, I also agree if the battery has not been replaced on an iPhone 12, it is likely due for replacement with the Battery Health being below 80% and there may even be a Service Warning in the Battery Settings. That would be the first thing to check.

Searching for a signal drastically increases power use on any device no matter what iOS version is being used. I also have T-Mobile and there was no change in signal strength after the iOS 26 update on any of my devices. I do remember long ago when iOS 26 was first released that there was a Carrier Update provided by T-Mobile that addressed users who had a No Service message on the device, but that came from T-Mobile. Back then users could contact T-Mobile to have the update pushed to an affected users device, but by now it should have been automatically installed. I did not have that problem, but did see some reports from others where it was resolved by T-Mobile.

  1. Follow the Apple article to resolve the issue --> If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on or is frozen ...
  2. If not resolved; please follow the steps in the following link for support with this issue: If your iOS device restarts or displays the Apple logo or a spinning gear unexpectedly
  3. You still see a black screen after charging, force restarting, following the steps in this article.
    1. You see a black screen, but you can hear alerts, sounds, and vibrations.
    2. The screen remains black, but the device chirps when you unmute it and connect it to power.
    3. Your screen is on, but it doesn't respond when you tap, slide, or try other gestures.
    4. You can't force your device to restart because a button is broken or stuck.
    5. Your device is stuck on the Apple logo, displays a solid color, or isn't recognized in iTunes.
    6. Contact Apple Support to set up service if you have any of the above issues:
  4. Please follow the steps in the following Apple Video for support with this issue:

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

It has been horrible. I have the circles that pop up all the time every time I open up a contact and then I find out my contact no longer has a phone number.
  • Is it just your contact that no longer has a phone number or are you seeing this for all contacts?
  • Are you syncing your contacts with a third party such as Google or Microsoft?
  • Do you have a VPN installed?
  • Not sure what circles you are referring to, a screenshot may be helpful, but please don't include any personal or identifiable information.
Does anyone know if you can roll back to your last upgrade?

Nope, that has never been an option. Downgrading is not even supported on Android phones where those that have tried have ended up with a bricked phone.

That happens when you hold the space bar down and is also true on any previous iOS versions too. If you are not holding down the space bar, then:

Perform a Force Restart:

  • Press and quickly release Volume Up
  • Press and quickly release Volume Down
  • Press and HOLD the side button until the Apple logo appears. This may take up to 15 seconds before you see the Apple Logo and you have to ignore anything else on the screen during that time. If you do not see the Apple logo then try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence of the key presses correct.

Or:

  • Your digitizer may be failing and you are seeing a "ghost" touch.

The only place I have seen that reported is on Social Media sites where some would post a screenshot such as that as a prank while holding the space bar and other people fall for it.

Yes. All my apps keep disappearing. ALL OF THEM.

The only posts I have seen where the apps will disappear following the update is when the device is associated with Family Sharing where improvements have been made in Parental Controls relating to the change in Age Ratings for apps. Previously a parent could not remove an app from a members device that had previously been authorized and changes in age ratings did not affect the apps currently installed on the phone.

If that is not the case for you, then I would recommend to contact Apple directly where they can perform remote diagnostics or schedule an appointment with Apple.

If you prefer to switch to an Android phone, that is your choice. There is an entirely different Support page for those that are having problems with those devices. Ironically you see the same posts over there that users are fed up with their devices and are switching to the iPhone. Not sure the reason why some say that, but I would certainly recommend to anyone that they should purchase a device that best meets their needs and would not stop them from doing that.
