Cannot add bank cards to Apple Wallet on iPhone 17 Pro Max

Good afternoon!

After switching from an iPhone 14 Pro Max to an iPhone 17 Pro Max, I can’t add my bank cards to Apple Wallet. Every time I try to add a card, an error appears. The cards were removed from my old phone. I also can’t add these same cards to other iPhones (I even tried adding my card to my brother’s phone).

I have been to the bank several times, but they don’t understand what the issue is, as everything is fine on their side.

It’s important to note that I can’t add only the cards that were previously added to my devices. I can’t add my own cards or my husband’s card.

Are you logged into the same Apple Account (formerly known as Apple ID) that you used on your old iPhone? Have you tried both WiFi and cellular internet connection? What iOS version is your new iPhone using?

Using the bank’s app and/or secure website bypasses virtually all of the iPhone security protocols. The issue is likely with the Payment Network Operator(s) for the cards. PNOs are networks like Mastercard, Visa, American Express etc.

I’ve posted on this multiple times in the forums here. This thread will explain the issue. You’ll need to work through the bank’s support system and have them contact the PNO and remove their block on your card/account.

Do any of the banks have a mobile app or website that allows you to add their cards in that manner? For example, I have several cards that I can be added to the Apple Wallet via the banks app, bypassing the iPhone almost entirely.

The iPhone is operating correctly. It’s confirmed by being able to add a new account. The old cards all have some kind of block on them. Apple cannot block a card. Only the PNO and issuing bank can block a card.

Please follow this path,

iPhone > Settings > General > About > SEID > is there a long alphanumeric code or just a string of zeros (0000…)?

What version is your iPhone using, please?

Are you currently in Latvia and are the issuing banks Latvian Banks? Have you travelled outside Latvia recently?

Yes, these are Latvian cards. They were previously added to my old iPhone and everything worked fine. As soon as I changed my phone, the cards can’t be added anymore (they also can’t be added to other devices). Only the cards that were previously added to my devices are affected.

I haven’t travelled outside the country.

Yes, it’s the same Apple Account. I also tried signing out and signing in with a different account. The cards can’t be added not only on my phone (they can be added on Android). I’ve tried everything you mentioned, but the cards are still not available. The latest iOS version is installed.

s, the bank has a feature to add the card to Apple Pay through the bank’s app, but at the final step of the setup the same error appears. At the bank, they tried everything: deleting the bank app, signing in again, restarting the phone, but the same error still occurs. They don’t see anything in the bank’s system that could prevent the card from being added to the wallet. However, the cards still cannot be added.
