Ricoh MP C2003 PS on macOS: Printing fails, 'Data Error

I’m having an issue with a network printer (RICOH MP C2003 PS) on macOS and would appreciate any help.

The printer is properly connected to the network and is reachable via ping. When I send a print job, it reaches the printer, but it does not print. On the printer’s display, it shows “Data Error”.

Details:

• Printer model: RICOH MP C2003 PS

• Connection: Network (LAN)

• OS: macOS

• Driver: Official macOS driver installed

Issues observed:

• Print jobs reach the printer but do not print

• Printer display shows “Data Error”

• macOS sometimes shows “Out of Paper”, which is incorrect

• Printer has paper loaded and is otherwise operational

Troubleshooting already done:

• Restarted printer and Mac

• Reinstalled printer driver

• Verified network connectivity (ping works)

Note: User code is also added. but doesn't print either.

Despite this, the issue persists.

Has anyone encountered this problem with Ricoh printers on macOS? Any suggestions regarding driver compatibility, PDL (PS/PCL), or printer settings would be greatly appreciated.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.6

Is the "Official macOS driver installed" version 3.10.0.0?

Consider for the Protocol try using "Line Printer Daemon - LPD" instead of Internet Printing Protocol - IPP.

According to the spectacularly scattershot Ricoh documentation, that printer supports AirPrint.

Try that path.

Print wirelessly from your Mac to your printer - Apple Support

You may need to reset the printer or the printer networking to get it to re-generate a certificate, if the printer does not handle that automatically.

This printer might support a web administration interface, but documentation for that and for updating the firmware is lacking. See if you csn log into the printer’s web administration interface and check for updated firmware.
