On iPhone 12, ios26, Telegram will not let me manually add a contact. Wants me allowing it to sync to phone contacts. I do not want it to sync. I just want to manually add someone to Telegram.

After much effort, I discovered how to make it work. The problem was in how I had set contact access in iOS settings under Screen Time. Once I allowed app access to my contacts, I got a request regarding Telegram. I allowed it, & was able to send a message in the Telegram app.

You'll need to reach out to Telegram for help with that. Telegram is not an Apple product, nor does Apple have any control over how Telegram works or permits adding contacts.

That’s a great question for Telegram support; it’s not an Apple product, so Apple can’t do anything about it.
