How do I use a custom image or emoji in my Apple Community profile icon

How do I use a custom image or emoji in my Apple Community profile icon? When I try to edit the image (Profile Icon > View Profile > Edit Profile & Preferences > Edit Image) it opens a window with pre-defined emojis but doesn’t allow me to upload and use a custom one.
