Carplay issues with ios 26.2

Is Apple going to address the issue with Carplay no longer working with the ios 26.2 update? Carplay worked fine in our 2023 Jeep Renegade before the update. Now we get a "Device not supported" message when we connected the phone (3rd gen SE with ios 26.2). Per my research, Jeep does not have a firmware update available.

My daughter has a 2025 Subaru Outback, and her Carplay no longer works either.

Apple needs to do an update to fix this. I should not have to go back to the car manufacturer to help fix something that's Apple's fault. Last we checked with Jeep for a firmware update on a previously owned Jeep, they wanted around $200 for the update. It wasn't free.

Am no expert in this area ... yet your question to the community surely deserves some response.

What issue do you claim Apple is actually responsible for? (Note: Apple is unlikely to see or respond to your question here.) See Apple support's suggestions: what to do: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

We are all Apple users like yourself in this community, so we have no way of checking what Apple is going to do, or not going to do in the future. Apple may make an official newsroom announcement for some things, yet we most often only see info.new features, bug-fixes, or other updates when they are released.

Seems many people are using CarPlay with their cars ok. Yet a few others do have a variety of issues that the community may or may not be able to help troubleshoot and / or help solve..

In Apple support's article: iOS - CarPlay - Available Models - Apple

Jeep's 2018 - 2023 Renegade is listed OK

although for your daughter: Subaru's 2025 Outback is not listed ... does she use an app that needs update

(You may want to ask Subaru whether or not they provide a way to use CarPlay,.

or perhaps they need to ask Apple to add "Outback" to Apple's CarPlay list. ).

Is it Jeep's infotainment system which delivers the message that your iPhone is not supported ?

Seems there is not a lot Apple could do, if so.

How long since you last updated the Jeep software to keep pace with recent iOS versions?

Have you tried connecting by cable if wireless connection for iPhone isn't being accepted?

Perhaps compatibility of iPhone software and Jeep software needs to be addressed in order to use CarPlay.

I went to Jeep's website: https://www.jeep.com/ to check what software support they do provide. However, they require a user's zip code in order to access the site ... since I live in Australia any info I could access from the support / help team about updating the infotainment system may not be relevant where you live.

From a quick search online:

Jeep owners seem to say it is important to keep the software up-to-date, and some share their methods.

Didn't see anything for your paricular model and year. Try checking the car's manual for Jeep's info.

Seems cost is up to you. You may prefer to pay for a technician's valuable time to update the system.

Yet seems many Jeep infotainment system updates are simply downloaded over wi-fi by the car's owner.

One YouTube video I watched (newer, different Jeep model and year to yours) showed the owner simply clicked a few buttons (Apps > System > Software Updates) to access software updates, before demonstrating how to download using wi-fi supplied from phone. Maybe that's only on the newest Jeep models ? or not ?

If that is still your opinion, you may want to send feedback to Apple, and if others also have a similar situation we may see an update that addresses your issue. Feedback website: Product Feedback - Apple

I’m so glad you made this post so I no longer feel like a crazy person!

My iPhone 16 Pro Max was updated to 26.2 over the weekend and no longer works with my Alpine i209-WRA head unit. It was working fine prior to the update (<=26.1) and is still working on an iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18.x.

This has to be a more widespread issue than they are either aware of our communicating.

Hopefully there will be a fix soon!

I have a Honda Civic. My CarPlay connects, but on my way to work this morning I noticed the skip buttons on my steering wheel don’t work, nor on the radio system itself, but worked on the touchscreen. I was so annoyed I had an app. scheduled for tomorrow morning. Then I decided to just connect to Bluetooth and see if the buttons worked…. Boom, they did. My phone updated last night. Common denominator = iOS 26.2, I know for a fact because it worked last night, but then my phone updated and now it doesn’t.

Hi, and thank you for your info.

Seems 2016 - 2025 Honda Civic should be able to use CarPlay ok.

How long since you updated the firmware on the Honda's stereo (or infotainment) system? You may want to check the manual, or the manufacturer's support website, for how to keep the firmware updated. The system may need to be updated for compatibility with iPhone's software.

Else: If you are convinced it is a software bug in iPhone's iOS version: you may want to send feedback to Apple. Apple's Feedback website: Product Feedback - Apple
