Apple TV remote will not work on YouTube with ios 26

Apple TV remote will not work with YouTube? I have had three different answers

first from apple support they gave me a serious run around to tell its time to buy a new apple tv.....now i have 4 of them all off them having the same issues and its 2nd/3rd/4th gen so its definitely not me the unit....or they suggested to buy a apple tv 5th gen for 250 each unit x 4 is its pricy...

second i spoke to youtube and they suggest a diff brand of remote and i tried that it work no jumping back and forth but then im loosing siri and apple charging.

third solution is to just use a diff brand all to gethar and save the cost...after looking to several things and apple not launching any update to fix remote issues due to apple ios 26...everyone who did the update and have screwed up there youtube and no were to find a answer....and apple support is on diff level of selling there stuff....is it worth it or look other ways....

i have been using appleTV for 12+years. and have gotten use to it....also found someone stating they were able to back date it...but i dont know how to do it....

So any suggestions...

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but I can’t replicate your issue. The YouTube app on the supported models Apple TV box (A1625 or later; year 2015 or later) on tvOS 26.x can be navigated fine with the Siri Remote, for as far as I can determine from my own experience: there is no bug to fix there. Remote responsiveness should be quite similar for any app on the Apple TV box, although each app has its own UI and navigation quirks.

Please verify that your system software is on the latest version: tvOS 26.2 (23K54) at time of writing.

Please verify that the YouTube app for tvOS is on the latest version: v4.51.08 at time of writing. You can see this in the on-device App Store app.

You can also try restarting just the remote.

You can try deleting and reinstalling the YouTube app, if you haven’t done so yet in your troubleshooting.

your link points to a third party remote made by a company called BestParts

and not an apple product, have you tried to see if the original apple remote has the same issue?

Siri Remote - Apple

if it does then maybe you should just, not use the third party BestParts remote anymore and use the apple one

or take your chances to see if other third party remotes do a better job then BestParts one.

This worked I back dated all 4 of the apple tv back by one year and they are working and I made sure not to update it to ios 26.

I am having the same issues on the YouTube app on all 3 of my Apple TVs. When you swipe the screen does the opposite of what is expected, then when you stop it just scrolls back randomly. Works fine on all other apps. 3rd party remote works fine but then I lose the functionality of the Apple Remote. Happened right after the update so I assumed it would be addressed when the newer versions of either tvOS or YouTube came out. It hasn’t. Very frustrating

if it only happens in 1 app then it's likely because something was changed that require google to update their appletv youtube app

all my tv is auto update...but started when i updated to ios 26....it happened few years ago i updated to ios 18 which had the same issues....that is when i had the same issues too...i just bought a replacement and its on ios 26 and still has the same issues...remote works but when searching in youtube or trying to navigate it jumps all over the screen and it only happens in youtube...when i turn on my tv i have to manually start my appleTV...A1652...tvos...26.2...app version is 4.51.08/web202601....and its the same on all 4 units...and its on auto update...

it only happens with appleTV remote...but when i use generic remote then AppleTV works like nothing happened...but I like siri since my 74yr old mom has hard time to type she can just say it and it works without any issues....

this is the remote its black one

Yes. First thing I tried. I also factory reset the box, charged the remote, and in fact I literally installed tvOS 26.3 this morning and checked right afterwards and the problem persists.
