AirPods Pro (2nd generation) audio cuts out and distorts

My AirPods Pro (2nd generation) have recently started cutting out randomly and producing distorted audio. I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting them, as well as restarting my phone, but the problem keeps happening. I mainly listen to audiobooks, and the issue occurs while using Libby, Hoopla, or Kindle. Sometimes it happens when my phone is in my back pocket; other times it happens while I’m actively using my phone, such as playing a game or checking email. I’ve had the AirPods just over a year. The distortion isn’t constant, it comes and goes randomly and intermittently.
