iPhone 16 Pro replacement: no dual eSIM in India

Had my 16 pro replaced under Apple care+, this was originally a US model with dual eSIM capabilities. Now after the replacement in India, I received the Asian model which is unable to do dual eSIM at the same time. Can I do something about this or is it a lost cause. Both are Verizon eSIMs, one for work and another for personal use. I’m going to be in Mumbai for the next 3 month for work and need both the eSIMs working.

The model sold in India, and the one that replaced the device the OP originally had, does not have 2 eSIMs. It has one eSIM and one physical SIM slot.

Esim support does not work that way.

You can activate 2 sims either 1 eSim and 1 physical sim or 2 eSims at a time.

But the physical sim must be turned off before you can activate the second eSim.

There is no esim limitation in that regard.

You should be able to use dual eSims on iPhone 16 Pro, except ones meant for sale in China as those only support 2 physical SIM cards, so should not be your case.

Make sure the physical SIM card is turned off, before trying to enable the second eSim.

Settings ➜ Cellular ➜ Physical SIM card, flip the switch to off.

Then enable the eSim.
