Workout announcements no longer audible on Apple Watch

Workouts are no longer announcing segments and pace details. I have a Apple Watch SE GPS Aluminum 44mm (2nd gen) Non Cellular. Since installing iOS26 the announcements have stopped. Previously I could run with music playing in my connected earbuds and have segment and pace notifications audible through the earbuds.

Can anyone confirm that you now need to have a Cellular Apple Watch, or carry your phone and have your non cellular watch connected to your phone, to hear the announcements.

Did you already force restart your watch after the latest update by pressing and holding the Digital Crown and the Side button together for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?

Does it work when you start a normal workout, without custom settings?

Thanks for your response. I did what you suggested. I have a custom workout set...5 min walk..5 min run x 2. Workbudy is on. After reset...When I pressed start on the Workout it announced 'now walk for 5 mins' but nothing else for the next change to run for 5 mins and then nothing at the end of the 5 min run. Vibration alert works..but no audio.
