MacBook restarts unexpectedly and battery needs service

help!! my macbook (i just got from the apple store in september) keeps on restarting. it won’t turn back on until i plug it back in and the battery says it’s fully charged. sometimes it’ll restart when i take out the charger. i already took it to the apple store and they just factory reset it, which did nothing. why is it restarting?? i also just looked and saw that my battery needs service, i just got it in september?

What changed from the Apple Store to you encountered the issue once again? My guess is you restored from a backup which brought the problem back. Apple only cares about how the Mac works with a clean install of macOS. Once third party software is installed, then Apple wipes their hands of things & puts it on the user to figure out the problem with the third party software (or even externally connected third party hardware).

Run the third party app EtreCheck and post the complete report here so we can examine it for possible clues.

You can try disconnecting all external devices in case one of them is causing the problem.

Take it back to the Apple Store until you get the issue resolved. They are the ones who will be able to assist you in this matter. If the battery is now showing as needing service, it could be something that their initial diagnosis missed. They themselves performed the service and what they did didn't resolve the issue.

Take it back.
