Siri issues on iphone 16, started recently

My siri only works like 40% of the time. I’ll ask for it to text or to play music or like anything, and it’ll say something like “Sorry please try again” or some other message. This is only a somewhat recent problem, like 4 or so months

iPhone 16, iOS 26

So, what other problems are you having?

Troubleshooting SIRI Issues After Updates:

If this started after installing an update, then it may be a faulty update, or a faulty app.

A. Clear the Caches:

Caches are created for remembrance of Application use, so that they open faster and more efficiently, all of which gather over time. So, clear them. Use my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage: - User Tip

B. Start here: If "Hey Siri" isn't Working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

C. Restore your iPhone from a Backup:

Have any backups of this iPhone prior to this occurrence? If so, restore your iPhone from one that has these photos (the most recent backup, ideally). If not, then take this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your device for recovery purposes. Important: Back up you iPhone prior to performing this restoration, should anything go wrong from here on out.

D. Report this to Apple:

Do your part: Let Apple know what is going on here. Provide them with feedback on this. They may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they received on this, the more they will know what is going on, and what needs to be fixed in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update, and how you have troubleshot it this far. Include the URL of this thread.
  4. Proceed from there aw necessary

Think of it this way: Siri is super smart, but it also needs information from the web to be truly helpful. Imagine a library with tons of books on all sorts of subjects. Siri can still use its knowledge to answer basic questions you might have, like what the capital of France is, even without the library. But if you ask something that requires more research, like finding the best pizza place nearby or checking the weather this weekend in Paris, Siri needs to access the information online just like you would at the library.

So, if Siri seems a little off its game, check your WiFi or cellular data connection to make sure it's working properly. That should help Siri get back to its super-smart and super-helpful self!

Probably your device may not be connected to the internet.

Connecting to Wi-Fi is the first part and then getting connected to the Internet is the second

  1. If you are connected to a Wifi, doesn't necessarily mean you are connected to the internet. If you are not connected to wifi could be a problem with iPhone settings or Router/Modem Settings
  2. If you are not connected to the internet is the sole issue of Router / Modem Settings. Contact your ISP immediately

Internet Over Wi-FI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular/Mobile: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency that issued the SIM to you
  • Over Wi-Fi: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency that provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you
