Safari tabs disappearing after update to 26.2

Has anyone had any issues with Safari tabs all suddenly disappearing and then not appearing in recently closed tabs since updating to iOS 26.2?

iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 26

"Safari tabs disappearing after update to 26.2: Has anyone had any issues with Safari tabs all suddenly disappearing and then not appearing in recently closed tabs since updating to iOS 26.2?"

Safari Tabs Disappearing:

Are you Using Private Browsing? If so, don't expect these tabs to come back, when you go out of it, and then back into it.

  1. Go Here: Turn Private Browsing on or off on your iPhone - Apple Support
  2. As it Reads: "With Private Browsing, Safari won't remember the pages you visit, your search history, or your AutoFill information. Private Browsing also blocks known trackers, removes tracking used to identify individual users from URLs, and adds protections against advanced fingerprinting techniques."

Thank you for clarifying that.

No. I am not having this issue in normal browsing.

  • Try a Force Restart:

Go Here: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

  • Clear the Caches:

Use my User Tip: How to Clear "System Data" in your iPhone's Storage - Use Backup - User Tip. System data consists of caches, all of which gather over time. Caches are created for ease of application use, and so that they open more efficiently. So, clear them.

  • Report this to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
