iPhone AirPlay volume goes silent when music tracks change

Can anyone please help, this issue started yesterday. When playing music on my iPhone and streaming via Airplay to any device the volume goes silent when the track changes. To get it working I have to skip back and then back forwards to the track, every time.

This happens on my Sonos, Soundslayer, and Denon Receiver. My Mac doesn't have this problem. Google'd around and tried the fixes suggested to no avail. Disabled transitions, rebooted phone, etc. etc. I think the iPhone installed an update overnight but I guess if it was that everyone would have the problem? Really don't want to reset the phone but I am getting to that point.

I’ve solved it - the issue arises when the bit rate changes; it’s a iOS issue I’m sure but you can fix it by fixing the bit rate to stay the same so for example if you use Apple Music turn off lossless and atmos then test is, I use tidal fixed everything to high not max and its streams fine no issues. Hope this helps

have you created a separate 2.4ghz only iot? if not, do this, then turn off Sonos, restart router, turn on Sonos, update network to new network in Sonos app, restart phone, try again

Tried this. The best results with the Sonos seem to have been obtained by wiring in an Ethernet connection and letting it use WiFi for its own ancillaries . Everything was fine until a recent iOS update.

This occurs with Sonos Beam, and my Denon XVC6700 receiver. Airplay from iPhone 17 pro max. WiFi is Cisco Meraki AP’s in full mesh. Removed all but one AP and tested, still same. Played with band steering etc. and no luck. Using no lossless or other affects.

I’m also having this issue over AirPlay, but I’m using a WiiM Pro Plus streamer. I can get the sound to come back by pressing pause and then play again. The streamer is connected to my router via Ethernet. I also have a Sonos system. I haven’t experienced this problem on Sonos, but I don’t use it that often.

I’ve changed my WiFi router to two different modals and still getting the same issues iPhone with Apple Music or tidal, pretty sure it’s the phone I can’t do any more

I’m also having the same issue when airplaying to Sonos. It’s still playing the song but there is no audio, skipping the track typically gets things working again. Both myself and my wife are experiencing the same issue, probably once every 5-10 songs but I haven’t paid much attention to the frequency.
