iPhone 17 cellular settings revert to 5G after iOS updates
I have my iPhone 17 cellular settings configured to LTE.
The latest iOS is installed.
Each time my phone is updated, the settings are lost — reverts back to the default “5G auto”.
Why?
My understanding is the default setting is 5G Auto and after most updates, carriers also roll out updates to remain compatible with the iOS update which resets network configurations. This appears to be normal. What I'd like to know is why you wouldn't want to be on 5G Auto? Your phone will still use LTE when on 5G Auto as it chooses the appropriate band based on your proximity to cellular services.
