Need to wipe work mac but can't log in

I have handed in my notice and need to wipe my work Mac of any personal items, etc. However, as I’m going to a competitor, they have already locked me out of everything. Is there a way to do this? As I feel uncomfortable just handing this back with my Apple ID still logged in, etc.

To me it sounds like your employer is using corporate IT management on your computer, in which case you will have to trust them to deal with the Mac properly. You should, however, still be able to change the password on your Apple Account unless it too is a company owned one. For anyone else who comes to this thread, consider this a perfect example of why one should never ever mix personal data on a work computer, or vice versa. Especially not on a computer owned by the business rather than the user.

A positive result here will be that the Mac is handled properly and the user's personal data is wiped without incident.

A negative outcome will be that the user data is compromised and exploited, causing at least some level of inconvenience for the user.

To the OP here: good luck! 🍀
