mac os how to interpret memory and laptop tiredness
mac os big sur 11.3.1. when i open up just a couple things (email, chrome) it already starts 'sweating' (fan-on in cold room, not hot yet) as if it's using a lot of memory or something. i found activity monitor but i don't know how to interpret it to diagnose if there is a problem. it says my physically memory is 8.00 gb and only using 5-6.30 ish gb and cached files 1.90 ish gb and swap is 322.8mb (but they change around). as for what is taking most memory, it seems to make sense to my layman eyes. for example, it says 'google chrome helper (renderer)' like seven times, which is probably from the tabs i opened to research this? i know my computer is older, but i got used to it being slow because i used to overload it with a million tabs and files and stuff. however, i'm trying to tidy it up so it can run smoothly and not get damaged (it does generally work well). it's not a lost cause, for example, deleting some old caches made 8gb of storage last year. if the memory looks weird, please let me know, i didn't know how to compare it to articles about other people's computers. otherwise, if you could point me to some general tips about what could 'stress out' my laptop, i would appreciate it.
