Stop Mail email deletions on iPhone from syncing to iMac

How can I stop my emails on my iPhone synchronising with my iMac such that whenever I delete an email from Mail on my iPhone it automatically mimics it on my Mail on my Desktop. The only reason I have emails on my phone is for dealing with urgent stuff when I am not in front of my desktop - ultimately I DO NOT want or NEED all my emails accessible and visible on my iPhone. Apparently this is related to an IMAP and POP setting...

you can't, it is the default behavior of IMAP and exchange mail setups only the very old pop3 do what you wish it to

of cause if the mail provider you use also has support for the old pop3 type then you can set it up like that on your phone
